Doha 2016 Olympic campaign gets underway
The Bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games will take place in Doha in early September 2007.
31 July 2007 – The Doha 2016 Olympic Bid Committee is delighted to announce that a launch of the Bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games will take place in Doha in early September 2007. At the event the logo and key themes of the Doha 2016 Bid will be unveiled as well as key members of the Bid Committee.
Full details of the launch will be announced on an initial Doha 2016 website on 20 August 2007. The full Doha 2016 website will be launched in October.
The Chairman of the Doha 2016 Bid Committee, Mr. Hassan Ali Bin Ali, said: “A huge amount of work is going on behind the scenes at the moment. We have extremely exciting plans for our Bid and we believe that Doha 2016 will offer a unique opportunity for the International Olympic Committee to bring the Games to a new region of the world. We look forward to sharing our plans with the population of Qatar and the Olympic Family in September.”
Mr. Ali Bin Ali will be available to answer detailed questions concerning the Doha 2016 Bid after the formal launch event.
