Speaking at the end of an IOC workshop in Switzerland, Hassan Ali Bin Ali said: “The past few days have been a great learning experience for our team. More than ever, we are confident that we can offer the IOC an extremely serious and inspiring Bid, with its roots in sport. We know that there is an enormous amount of work ahead of us, but we are very excited at the prospect of being the first city from the Arabic world to host the Games.”
He added: “The workshop met all our expectations, helping us to focus our minds on the key criteria for a successful Bid. It clarified a lot of the technical details for the Doha 2016 team and its consultants.”
Mr Hassan paid tribute to the IOC staff in Lausanne, saying “everyone was extremely helpful and welcoming, making the whole experience a pleasure”.
The workshop, held at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, aims to instruct the Bid Committees in the technical aspects required to host the Summer Games.
“It was a very moving experience being at the Olympic Museum,” said Mr Hassan. “I felt honoured to be there as a very small part of the extraordinary and wonderful history of the Olympic Movement.”
Mr Hassan added: “It was also a pleasure to meet the team leaders of the other bidding cities. There was a great spirit of comradeship between the Bid teams and we are confident of having a good and fair competition between us in the spirit of the Olympic Movement.”
