The total budget Doha has allocated for its Bid to host the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games is US$ 48 million.
Doha 2016 believes that, while private-sector support is important, it is the support of the government, the commitment of the supreme authority for the State of Qatar, His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani and the deep involvement of His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Crown Prince and Heir Apparent that can assure the IOC that Doha 2016 will be fully funded, from the Application Phase right through to the staging of the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The State of Qatar will meet all costs for developing infrastructure, providing government services, and any other financial demands that may arise up until the closing of the OCOG following the Games.
The budget for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Doha will be structured in principle on a 60/40 basis of public versus private financing.
The government of Qatar will provide up to 60% of the organising committee budget.
In addition to the funds received from the IOC TOP programme, broadcast revenue and the monies to committed by Qatar (which is up to $1.175 billion under this scenario), Doha 2016 confidently estimates that it can generate approximately $784million through an innovative commercial programme that leaves a regional sport business legacy.
The total Games budget is approximately $2.5billion.
