Overwhelming support for Doha 2016

Public opinion in Qatar strongly supports Doha’s bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games. Ipsos Public Affairs, a world leader in opinion research, conducted public opinion polls from 18 November to 3 December 2007, the results of which indicate that 86% of the people in the Doha city and region support the Doha 2016 Bid.

Moreover, 95% of the people surveyed indicated that they were aware of the Bid, and only 4% expressed negative opinions about the Bid.

More than 81% of respondents are interested in the Olympic Games, and 49% showed strong interest.

These figures indicate powerful support among the Qatari population for bringing the Games to an Arab country for the first time and showcasing Qatar’s achievements.
