Weather conditions in Doha are perfectly suited for the best athletic performances and for the comfort of all who attend the Games during the period proposed for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Temperatures are warm but not extreme, and vary little from morning to evening. The maximum temperature recorded in the past 10 years during the Games period was 34 degrees; the minimum was 25.1 degrees. Such even temperatures create fair conditions for athletes and teams that may compete in the same event at different times or on different days.
Average humidity over the 10-year period was a comfortable 57%, with the lowest levels recorded during the hottest part of the day.
More significantly, no rain was measured during the Games period over the past 10 years. Rain and storms will have no impact on athlete performance, safety and operations, or spectator comfort.
Winds during the 2006 Asian Games’ Athletics competition were not a factor in the results, with the average speeds recorded at 1.94 km/h and the maximum at 3.96 km/h.
