Bid Timeline
Below is the timeline of events leading to up to October 2009, when the official Host City for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be announced by the IOC in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Applications for all 2016 bids are due to the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The confirmed Applicant Cities in addition to Doha are: Chicago (USA), Tokyo (Japan), Madrid (Spain), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Prague (Czech Republic), Baku (Azerbaijan).
