QATAR OLYMPIC COMMITTEE (QOC)

The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) was founded in 1979, and is a member of the International Olympic Committee, the Olympic Council of Asia and the Arabs Sports Games Federation.
The President of QOC is Heir Apparent His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Heir Apparent, who has held this role since 2000.
In the true Olympic spirit and in accordance with the Olympic Charter, QOC’s role is to widen access to sport and physical recreation to every person in the country.


Objectives

  • Develop and protect the Olympic Movement in Qatar, in accordance with the Olympic Charter
  • Stimulate the interest of the people in Qatar in sport, physical education and recreation
  • Integrate Olympic ideals into physical education and sport in schools and universities
  • Ensure the observance of the Olympic Charter in Qatar
  • Encourage the development of high performance sport in Qatar
  • Ensure access to sport is made available to every person in Qatar
  • Take action against any form of discrimination and violence in sport
  • Fight against the use of banned substances and procedures prohibited by the IOC and/or the International Sports Federations
  • Encourage the sense of understanding, love and friendship among youth through sports
