What legacy will the Doha 2016 Youth Initiative leave behind?
The Doha 2016 Youth Initiative will leave widespread and varied legacies.
The participants in the Youth Initiative will take away a firsthand memory of seeing every athlete’s dream: to participate in the Olympic or Paralympic Games. Having seen it, many will be inspired to live the dream for themselves.

In addition, Qatar hopes that youngsters all around the world, not just the 100,000 who participated in the Youth Initiative, will be inspired by the Olympic and Paralympic Games to play sport – even to compete – so creating a new generation of Olympians.
For the young people of Qatar and the wider region, the Doha 2016 Youth Initiative will allow them to understand the wider world better. The Youth Initiative will create new friendships and understandings between the young delegates that will extend far beyond the Olympic Games themselves.
The 100,000 young participants will take away a true picture of Arab culture and hospitality. They will be the catalysts that Qatar hopes will create understanding, hope and change that could unite this entire region with the rest of the world.
Finally, after the Games are over, the special “Youth Villages” will be used to give state-of-the-art housing to the many guest workers living in Doha.
