Heir Apparent His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani is the Heir Apparent of Qatar. He is the son of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, and Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Bin Abdullah Al Missned.
Heir Apparent His Highness has been a Member of the International Olympic Committee since 2002. He is President of the Qatari Olympic Committee. During his Presidency, Qatar has played an increasingly important role on the World sporting stage culminating in Doha hosting the 2006 Asian Games. Heir Apparent His Highness was President of the Organising Committee for the Games which were heralded as the most successful, best organised and widely reported Asian Games ever.
Educated in the United Kingdom, Heir Apparent His Highness Sheikh Tamim went on to Sandhurst Military Academy. Heir Apparent His Highness is Head of the Upper Council of the Environment and Natural Sanctuaries.
Heir Apparent His Highness Sheikh Tamim became Crown Prince in 2003 and serves as Deputy Amir. He is married to Her Excellancy Sheikha Jawahar Bint Hamad Al Thani, daughter of Sheikh Hamad Bin Suhaim Al Thani.
