Tom Coyne, Project Director and Advisor to the Chairman

Tom Coyne, an international businessman and engineer, who has had close links to Qatar for more than 30 years, is the Project Director of Doha 2016 and Advisor to the Bid Chairman, Hassan Ali Bin Ali.

Mr Coyne first came to Doha in 1979 and has worked for both Mr Ali Bin Ali and before him his father. Mr Coyne has overseen many of the region’s most iconic development projects, including hotels, museums and most recently the genetics centre at the Shafallah Center for Children with Special Needs.

Mr Coyne, a keen equestrian and squash player, has a dual residency in Qatar and the UK, where he owns a farm and breeds horses.
